January 30, 2017. Nepris, www.nepris.com, a resource that connects classrooms to professionals, invited Dr. Anabel Ford to speak to a middle school class from Cleveland, Ohio. Dr. Ford was able to communicate directly with the group of middle school students through video chat and a shared PowerPoint presentation. While she was projected onto a screen, several students walked up to a camera and asked her questions about the Ancient Maya. Dr. Ford got a chance to talk more about the Maya forest garden and clear up many misconceptions about Maya culture and history. One of the best moments from the video is when a student asks about slash-and-burn, one of Dr. Ford's favorite topics! The presentation went very smoothly and the students were curious and attentive. What a great way to share our work with the new generation!
