Xbalanque (EP 9)

This is one of two "twin" pyramids located at the north end of Plaza Copal, Xbalanque and Hunahpu. This building, Xbalanque, the west twin, is a rectangular platform with a multi-roomed building, orieted facing west. Hunahpu, or EP 8 has been badly looted. See the Site Map to refresh your memory of the location and relationship between these two buildings.

This is a photo of the partial exacavation of an interesing older building, a round structure, which is located partially beneath Xbalanque.
