Xamanaj

Xamanaj is a three room building on top of a high platform.

To the left is a plan of this small temple as it would appear from above. To the right is a reconstruction of how the building would have looked in cross-section. The roofs of these rooms are known as corbel arches, though they are not "true" arches. Also included in this drawing is the current ground surface, so that you can see how much of the building has crumbled. Also note that an entire room is still intact, but due to the activity of looters is in danger of collapse. Consolodation work is currently in progress to save this room.
